Associate Professor. UC3M Computer Security Lab
I am Associate Professor with the Computer Security Lab (COSEC), Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Spain). I got the PhD in Computer Science by UC3M in 2012 with distinction. I have visited several research institutions such as Fraunhofer AISEC (Germany) or University of Birmingham (UK).
I am interested in cybersecurity issues that have real-life impact. In particular, the risks of Internet of Things or the threats posed by smartphones have attracted my attention in the last years. Moreover, the development of new mechanisms for providing privacy-preserving and more secure services has also been at stake. For example, I have been working on developing continuous authentication mechanisms assisted by IoT or smartphone devices. Last but not least, I am always open to explore relatively novel technologies such as Blockchain.
I have co-authored +50 articles including +25 journal papers, also contributing to top conferences such as USENIX Security or AsiaCCS. I am also serving as Editor for Security and Communication Networks, as well as PC member in international conferences such as ICICS, SACMAT or ARES.
I have co-authored an assessment report for the European Parliament concerning cybersecurity strategies for EU decision makers. Since 2018 I am serving as VP of the Spanish National Committee on Cybersecurity and Data Privacy (UNE-CTN320).I have also served as expert witness in cybersecurity-related cases.
